Bermuda Grass cynodon dactylon
The East African species of the common grass, cynodon, bermuda grass originated in the African Savanna Grassland, but now spreads throughout many warm-climated countries. This grass spreads through a reproduction system that involves it's deep root system, which can dig up to 59 inches deep and the young plants appear within 2 weeks of germination. Along with it's large root system, the green-grey color blades are also very large, with a max height of 1.3 feet (0.4 meters) tall. One of the main reasons the bermuda grass is so popular with local herbivores and omnivores is that the grass is an early successional grass, normally one of the first to grow back after a forest fire. It can also grow even in poor soil, giving the eater easy access to it's meal.
