Grant's Zebra
The most abundant of the three species of zebra roaming the African Savanna Grassland, Grant's Zebra (burchelli bohmi) measures about 50 inches and weighs from 500-600 pounds. They travel in close-knit 'families' with up to 17 members and led by a single male. When attacked by a predator, mainly lions or hyenas, the families will either group together, confusing the predator with a maze of stripes, or run with the male leader guarding the back. Unlike the other two types of zebra that live in the African Savanna Grassland, Grant's Zebras are not considered endangered with 300,000 remaining.

The leaves found on a manketti tree are about 15 cm in length with a dark green color while it's flowers are only 3.5 cm in length when they bloom in the summer season. They grow quite rapidly and is designated a protected tree in Namibia because of its socioeconomic importance and the benefits it gives for a daily African diet.

African Elephant
The African Elephant, the largest land mammal in the world, weigh up to 10,000 pounds and can measure up to 12 feet tall. Through their aprox. 70 year lifetime, african elephants will stay in groups with 10-15 members who are all related and live off of grasses, fruits, tree leaves, bark, shrubs, and vines. After their 20-22 month gestation period, male elephants leave to join bachelor herds while females stay with the herd they were born into. Being very social creatures, elephants often learn about what to eat, where to find water and how to behave from their mothers. At night, the adults in the herd form a circle to protect the calves from predators such as leopards, lions, and jaguars. The remaining 150,000 African Elephants are endangered because poachers and hunters kill them for their ivory tusks to sell.
